5carddraw

Maurice 5carddraw "Mo" Johnston is a Scotland soccer striker who made his name with Celtic F.C. before controversially playing with Rangers F.C. started his career in 1981 with Partick Thistle and scored 41 goals in two and a half seasons there. He then moved on to Football League First Division club Watford F.C. 23 goals in a season and a half and a trip to the FA Cup final earned Mo a contract with Scottish giants Celtic, the club he supported as a boy. Embraced by the clubs fans, Johnston would score 55 goals in his three 5carddraw years there.Mo made his debut with the Scotland national football team national team in 1984, and retired

from international competition in 1992, after scoring 14 goals in 38 caps. He was in the starting lineup for all three of Scotlands 5carddraw matches in the Wc scoring a penalty kick against Sweden national football team and is widely considered 5carddraw one of Scotlands best strikers of the 1980s.Johnston moved on to Ligue 1 club FC Nantes Atlantique in 1987 and scored 22 goals in two seasons there. But it was his return from France to Scotland that was to cement Johnstons place in Scottish football history. After initially claiming he would never return to Scotland,

Johnston 5carddraw reconsidered, appearing in all the major Scottish newspapers to proclaim that "Celtic are the only team I want to play for". However, it was not Celtic for whom Johnston was ultimately to sign, but their biggest rivals, Rangers. After a last minute change of mind, in 5carddraw July 1989 Johnston controversially opted not to sign for Celtic, and unexpectedly to join Graeme Sounesss Rangers. For that decision, Johnston was branded Judas by some Celtic fans. For a minority of Rangers fans, the signing of a high-profile former player and supporter of their bitterest rivals - and a Roman Catholic

5carddraw Church Catholic - proved deeply unpalatable. For the majority, though, the signing of a current international, coveted at the time by many clubs, was a major coup . Johnston was not the first Roman Catholic to play for Rangers. Indeed, John Spencer Spencer, also a Catholic, was already a Rangers 5carddraw player at the time of Johnstons signing. However, the signing of Johnston heralded a period in which Rangers abandoned the sectarianism signing policy for

which the club had been criticised for many years. In Johnstons wake, numerous Roman Catholics have played for Rangers, and at one point in the late 1990s most of the clubs players were Catholic.Johnston scored 36 goals for Rangers, leading them to the first three of nine consecutive Scottish titles. In 1991, he moved to English club Everton F.C. scoring ten goals 5carddraw in two seasons. Johnston came back to Scotland with Edinburgh club Heart of Midlothian F.C. and then Falkirk F.C. scoring just five and six goals respectively in season and a half with each club.Johnston made the switch to the United

States and Major League Soccer in 1996, signing with the Kansas City Wizards City Wiz . He would score 31 goals in 149 games for the club, adding a goal in 15 playoff games. Moving to the midfield as the years went by, Johnston was the glue on the Wizards team that won the MLS Cup in 2000. He retired after the 2001 season, and from 2003 on has been an assistant 5carddraw coach to Bob Bradley for the MetroStars.1963 births MoScottish footballers MoCeltic F.C. footballers MoRangers F.C. footballers MoKansas City Wizards players Mo
